Announcements:
61st Annual Meeting of the Illinois Chapter of the American Fisheries Society will be held March 7-9. More details are provided on the Annual Meetings page.
About Us:
The Illinois Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is an organization of professionals in fisheries research and management in Illinois. Fisheries are the industry or occupation devoted to the catching, processing, or selling of fish, shellfish, or other aquatic animals. The word is often also used to refer to a place where fish or other aquatic animals are caught for food. Recreational fisheries are termed "sport" fisheries. We are concerned with all of these.
Mission:
The mission of the Illinois Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is the same as the parent society mission. The difference is that it seeks to particularly fulfill those goals here in Illinois as outlined in the objectives.
"...to advance sound science, promote professional development, and disseminate science‐based fisheries information for the global protection, conservation, and sustainability of fisheries resources and aquatic ecosystems."
